For reference, here is my mom and I enjoying French delights on a trip to Paris that we took in March 2005, lieu of my having a bat mitzvah.

You can tell we’re North American by the fact there’s wine in only one of our glasses. So lame, Mom.

David & Goliath t-shirts were trendy in 2005. I desperately wanted the uber-popular “Boys are stupid; throw rocks at them” version, but my mom, who deemed even Sailor Moon too violent, took issue with that message. The shirt I got instead, which I’m wearing here, reads: “Rock is dead. Long live paper and scissors.”
